DRIVE OUT ALS
Annual Charity Event

Join us at the Darian Bohannon Memorial Ride to Drive Out ALS, a heartfelt annual charity event held at 155 Fairground Street Cookeville, TN. This gathering brings together car enthusiasts and those affected by ALS to support a noble cause.

Darian’s Story:
Darian Bohannon was a loving husband, dad to 2 girls, papa to be, and uncle to several. He was a lifelong member of Scott Avenue Baptist Church and President of Middle 10 Jeeps. In December of 2022, Darian was having some episodes, so he went to the emergency room and they ran some tests. Darian’s episodes were diagnosed as TIA’s or mini strokes. Upon testing to see if there was brain damage from the mini strokes, it was discovered that Darian had a brain aneurysm. In February of 2023, Darian had brain surgery to place a coil in his brain to alleviate the aneurysm. He had a rare type of aneurysm that guaranteed him to have a stroke. Upon repairing the aneurysm, Darian did in fact, have a stroke. He recovered well until he started having some major issues in July of 2023. Darian couldn’t eat and was losing his strength, having trouble walking and standing and completing daily activities. He was taken to St. Thomas hospital were he was discharged after a few days. He then went to the Blue Roof in patient rehab in Cookeville, he walked in and that was the last steps he ever took. There, they worked to try and regain his strength to walk again. After several weeks there with no improvement, he was sent to NHC of Cookeville for further in patient rehab. He was having severe pain and couldn’t move his legs or do most things himself, the exception was he could use his arms to eat and drink, etc. He was discharged from NHC in October 2023 because there was no improvement so insurance stopped paying. After his mama’s funeral at the beginning of November 2023, he went to an appointment and was then diagnosed with ALS. This finally explained why he couldn’t walk anymore and was very weak. His muscles were being attacked. He was doing good in February of 2024, going outside every afternoon to watch all of his old work buddies come back to the shop and waving at them. He was at peace with the fact he was going to pass away soon because he knew he was going to meet his Savior and be back with his mama, daddy, and all his passed loved ones. He wasn’t feeling well at night on April 28th. He stayed awake a lot of the night unable to sleep and still felt bad the following day. He passed away April 29, 2024 from a heart attack at the age of 49.We remember him for his strength, faithfulness, love, and sense of humor. This event is exactly what he would want. Fundraising in a way that he loved to attend, to find a cure so other families in the future won’t have to fight this battle and see the light drain out of their loved one’s eyes when they hear the diagnosis of ALS.
